Satellite, roads and footprints update

BEFORE
AFTER

When your location doesn't reflect anymore the reality!

That’s a common problem, overall in newly developed areas or in remote places where the satellite view is not updated frequently as in the bigger cities, and in the vast majority of cases, the online image shows a previous area, or the forest as the example image above.

That is a big issue, overall for tourist locations where a possible customer watching the area cannot understand what is looking, or in the worst case thinks that the location doesn’t match his expectations and therefore will look elsewhere.

Another possible issue is that so often the satellite view is used by guests to navigate in unknown, often large, places, like campsites or lodges, and finding the wrong image can confuse them.

Most of the time the old satellite view brings with it two other frequent problems, the incorrect presence of the footprints, and the incorrect presence of the roads with all the ensuing navigation problems (see below).

Do your guests get lost inside your location?

Do you know that your guests or customers can navigate around your location using just Google Maps and a common smartphone?

Yes, it’s possible! and most of the time is the perfect solution for campings and lodges where guests often move around lost in an environment they don’t know.

Adding all the proper roads, even if they are inside the property, naming them properly, can provide an easy and reliable way to let your guest move around freely, using a tool, Google Maps, which probably they already know so well, and that is speaking in their native language, whatever it is!

Adopting a Google Maps solution protects guests from the useless frustration of wandering around the facility without knowing how to reach the place they are looking for, increasing their satisfaction, and improving their judgment of the facility, which often turns into a positive review at the end of their experience.

The same system can then be used for navigation by bike, or for both, deciding which routes are only by bike, which are exclusively on foot, and which of them are mixed.

Footprints, the building's digital rapresentation

Another common problem, which manifests itself in the presence of an incorrect or very outdated satellite image, is the total or partial lack of building footprints.

The footprints are the representation on the map of the buildings present in reality and, together with the roads, they help in orientation, especially in those cases where, perhaps due to the presence of many trees, as in the case of a pine forest, it is not always easy to identify the buildings from satellite view.

Consequently to the capture of the updated satellite image it is therefore possible to redraw each single trace in its correct position, and therefore help those who are looking for a specific place (imagine the bungalows of a hotel or the tents in a campsite) to find exactly what is looking for and direction from or to that specific place.

Thanks to the use of the latest technologies in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAS) whether these are drones or vertical take-off fixed wings, we create an orthorectified photo of the entire area.

First of all we remove the old footprints if present, then we insert the new ones, correctly geolocated, and equipped with the relative features.

We reconstruct the road network, adding the missing streets, typifying them according to the intended use, and naming them one by one, later verifying their correct navigability.

Thanks to the use of the lastest 11K. 360° technology, we are able to create the Google Maps Street View of the entire roads net to better show the location and to helps users in the visual navigation.
